29th : Catherine Deneuve attends the opening of a Vuitton store in Saint Petersburg.

16th : Catherine Deneuve is honored by the San Luis Festival in Argentina. In the press conference, she publicly speaks for the first time about her biography written by Bernard Violet, saying that she has not read it but that her lawyers are taking care of it. She finds incredible and dishonest that one should write a biography without meeting the person (but she refused to do so, says the writer). She says that is she herself does not want to talk about her private life, why could somebody else do it ? (which shows that she has not read the book, since it is extremely discreet about her private life). She also comments on President Sarkozy, calling him very active, and says that she does not support his views on foreigners (immigration ?). She says that she will bring back home plants for her garden, and that she'd like to buy gaucho boots as well !

10th : the tea lounge above the "Panthéon" movie theater, decorated by Catherine Deneuve and Christian Sapet, is inaugurated. It will be open Monday thru Friday from 10 am to 7 pm.

7th : Catherine Deneuve is the guest of honor of the 3rd Golden Minbar moslim Film Festival in Kazan. The actress has given 2 short press conferences not exceding a total of 7 minutes. She noticed, waiting for an ashtray, that in Russia you could still smoke, while in France it was becoming harder. She smiled when asked if she would like to wear the islamic veil in order not to be noticed in the streets. She said that the veil could not be used for that reason. She usually uses an umbrella to go unnoticed. She also paid a visit to the Alliance Française in Kazan.

31st : Catherine Deneuve is in Bordeaux with Gaël Morel for a public encounter following the screening of "Après lui". She says that she won't be part of the movie "My stars and I " by Laetitia Colombani.

Catherine Deneuve appears briefly as "the elegant lady" in the German TV movie "Frühstück mit einer Unbekannten" ("Breakfast with a stranger"), which aired on May 29th at 8:15 pm on channel SAT1.

29th : Catherine Deneuve presents in Lyon the film "Après lui", in the company of the director Gaël Morel and Thomas Dumerchez.

23rd : Catherine Deneuve and Chiara Mastroianni present in the official competitiion the animated movie "Persepolis" by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud, in which they do voices. The film, excellent, will win the jury prize. In the evening, Catherine Deneuve attends the AMFAR charity gala against AIDS, in Mougins.

21st : Catherine Deneuve attends the Cannes Film Festival to present the film "Après lui" by Gaël Morel in the Director's Fortnight selection.

12th : Catherine Deneuve shoots a scene during a charity gala dinner at the Phoenicia Hotel in Beirut, for the film directed by Khalil Joreige and Joana Hadjithomas. Earlier in the week, she travelled to southern Lebanon to shoot scenes in the troubled region which bore the brunt of Israel's military offensive on Lebanon last year. It is a semi-improvised movie in which she plays herself.

March 2007

23rd : Catherine Deneuve presents "Les demoiselles de Rochefort" which is screened at the French Cinémathèque.

15th : Catherine Deneuve attends the screening of "Le héros de la famille", shown for the opening of the French Film Festival organized by Unifrance, which takes place in Tokyo from March 15th to 19th, with screenings also in Osaka and Yokohama. She leads the French delegation, in which there are also Thierry Klifa, Géraldine Pailhas, Christopher Thompson, Régis Wargnier, Laurent Tirard, Ludivine Sagnier, Benoît Magimel Jean-Pierre Améris, Bruno Dumont, Michel Gondry and Philippe Lioret. In a press conference, she pays tribute to French cinema that talks about love in a universal manner, and calls on Japanese distributors to show more French films. What has changed most since her last visit in 1997 is, according to her, the fact that people look at one another less on the street because everyone is very busy with their mobile phones.

9th : Catherine Deneuve attends a public encounter at the French Cinematheque after the screening of "Tristana", hosted by Serge Toubiana, director of the Cinematheque, and Bernard Payen. You can read a post describing this event on an external blog.

7th : Catherine Deneuve attends the private opening of her retrospective at the French Cinematheque. Jean-Paul Rappeneau, Agnès Varda, Tonie Marshall and Michel Piccoli are among the guests. The actress chose the movie "La chamade" by Alain Cavalier to open the event.

25th : Catherine Deneuve attends the Academy Awards in Los Angeles and presents with Ken Watanabe a montage of the foreign films who have won an Oscar in that category in the past.

12th : Catherine Deneuve attends the "Cinema for peace" gala on the side of the Berlin Festival, to the benefit of the children of Darfour and Tibet. Richard Gere, Christopher Lee, Bob Geldof and Sharon Stone are also present.
